Civil War Train: The General

The General is made from numerous domestic and tropical hardwoods. Lots of lathe work, and wheels that really turn.

The windows of the caboose are made of thinly sliced end grain red oak. Surprisingly, this is very porous, and when held up to light, is reminiscent of fine lace. The roof comes off and serves as a lid to a box. The 'box' contains cloves, whose aromatic odor inspires questions at exhibits such as, "Where the hell is that wonderful scent coming from?"
