Memorial Book by woodizgood Memorial Book by woodizgood
The book was created as another donation to the Rockville MD Senior Center. I was commissioned by the Board of Directors to fashion the book, as a practical way to honor deceased Center members. Previously Memorial Plaques were used to mount on the walls, and it was getting somewhat morbid to see the increasingly large number.

The bas relief sculpting of the oak leaves and acorns seemed appropriate for this book. It is made of mahogany with brass hinges, and designed to expand up to 5" thick with replaceable binder head screws.

Coincidently, my dad was a bookbinder, who used to repair and restore rare volumes at the Library of Congress and the Kennedy White House
